Was 1989 unter dem Namen MOSCITO als Schulband, die vorwiegend Cover-Songs spielte, begann, entwickelte sich bald zu einer der bekanntesten Progressive-Rock-Bands in Bayern.
Seit 1990/91 trat die Band unter dem neuen Namen LLYN Y MORYNION auf und spielte fortan nur noch eigene Musik. Der Bandname wurde aus dem Mabinogion übernommen, einer Sammlung der frühesten Prosageschichten der keltischen Literatur Großbritanniens.
Mitte der 1990er Jahre waren sie so populär geworden, dass sie sogar die Aufmerksamkeit von Kritikern außerhalb Deutschlands auf sich zogen. Das brachte sie auch auf internationale Bühnen, z. B. in der Schweiz, England und Wales. 1994 bis 1996 waren die auftrittsreichsten und erfolgreichsten Jahre der Band.
Ihre eigenen Songs, eine brillante Kombination verschiedener Musikstile wie Folk und Rock, kamen beim Publikum sehr gut an und machten ihre Live-Auftritte zu etwas Besonderem.
LLYN Y MORYNION produzierte vier CDs: zwei Studioalben (»Llyn Y Morynion«, 1993 und »Art Y Shock«, 1996), eine Dokumentation mit seltenem Live-Material aus den ersten 10 Jahren Bandgeschichte (»Anniversary – 10 years alive«, 1999) und ein akustisches Live-Doppel-Album (»Ynplygged«, 2002).

What started off as a school band (named MOSCITO) performing cover-songs in 1989, soon became one of the most famous progressive rock bands in Bavaria, Germany.
Since 1991, the band has performed under the new name LLYN Y MORYNION and has only played its own music. The band name was taken from the Mabinogion, a collection of the earliest prose stories in British Celtic literature.
By the mid-1990s they grew so popular that they even attracted attention of critics outside of Germany. That also brought them to international stages e.g., in Switzerland, England and Wales. 1994 to 1996 were the band's most prolific years.
Their own songs, a brilliant combination of various musical styles such as folk and rock, resonated very well with their audience, thus making live performances special.
LLYN Y MORYNION produced four CDs: two studio albums (»Llyn Y Morynion«, 1993 and »Art Y Shock«, 1996), one documentary featuring rare live footage from the band's first 10 years (»Anniversary – 10 years alive«, 1999) and one acoustic live double album (»Ynplygged«, 2002).
As life happened, LLYN Y MORYNION split up in June 2002.
